OSLO Norway’s selection to grant asylum to a group of Turkish military officers is an administrative not a political one, a Norwegian foreign ministry spokeswoman claimed on Thursday, a day soon after Ankara summoned Norway’s ambassador in excess of the issue.
“We’ve knowledgeable the Turkish ambassador in Oslo that asylum apps are determined by Norwegian immigration officials, dependent on Norwegian legislation,” Guri Solberg claimed in a statement.

Turkey’s foreign ministry summoned the envoy on Wednesday to convey its fears about Oslo’s selection to grant asylum to the four Turks suspected of links to the spiritual community accused by Ankara of orchestrating last July’s coup endeavor.
