HARARE Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is in search of sophisticated treatment in Singapore for eye problems triggered by aged age that can make it glimpse as if he has dozed off in public, his spokesman told a state-owned newspaper.
The ninety three-12 months-aged Mugabe is typically caught on camera showing up to be dozing at public events, and his wellness in standard is a sizzling topic before up coming year’s presidential election, which he is envisioned to contest. He still left for Singapore on Monday, his next professional medical journey in about two months .
The pics and films of Mugabe seemingly nodding off have long gone viral on social media and opponents have mocked him as unfit for office. But Mugabe’s spokesman, George Charamba, blamed the president’s eyes, and told the newspaper the Herald that neighborhood opticians suggested he should really find treatment abroad.
“At ninety three, there is a thing that happens to the eyes and the President cannot suffer bright lights. If you glimpse at his poise, he looks down, avoids immediate lighting,” Charamba explained.
“It (the journey to Singapore) has to do with his eyes and typically I have felt very, very pained. In fact, I sense like a failure when there is this reading through that the President is sleeping in conferences – no.”
Previous week at a Globe Economic Forum Summit in South Africa, Mugabe sat slumped in his chair, wringing his fingers, as he told a panel dialogue in a minimal murmur that his region was not a “fragile state”.
Regional non-public media stories say Mugabe has prostate cancer, which govt officers deny.
