BERLIN Negotiations on Britain’s departure from the European Union will have to not undermine peace in Northern Eire and there can be no ‘hard border’ between the British province and the Irish Republic, Irish Key Minister Enda Kenny said on Thursday.
“What ever transpires in the Brexit negotiations, almost nothing should undermine the peace and security … in Northern Eire, which has taken so long to realize and in which the European Union has played these types of an crucial aspect,” Kenny said in Berlin.
“As shown by recent developments, the peace and security there stays in a fragile condition,” he additional before conference German Chancellor Angela Merkel. “It is hence important that there is no return to a tricky border,” he said.
