ABOARD THE PHOENIX Humanitarian groups running rescue ships off the coast of Libya picked up far more than seven-hundred migrants out of seven flimsy and overcrowded boats on Wednesday, Italy’s coast guard stated.
The Phoenix rescue ship, operated by the Malta-dependent non-governmental business MOAS, rescued far more than three hundred persons from three boats in worldwide waters off the coast of the Libyan town of Sabratha.
The Aquarius, operated by SOS Mediterranee and Medical professionals without Borders, went to the aid of 4 rubber boats, a coast guard spokesman stated. Italy’s coast guard coordinated the rescues.
